I have another question to any anyone who has time to answear me this question, I'm just going to apply minoxidil on the beard once a day, because I have very long hair on my head (down to the chest), which requires a lot of work. is it okay to wash away minoxidil with shampoo after 4 hours, instead of just rinse it with water? After 4 hours, most of the minoxidil will have been absorbed by your skin, so it's safe to wash it away using whatever you like. The reason why water is recommended is because it's safe for your skin. I would not use shampoo on my face personally, but if your face can take it, go ahead. :)
You may want to check if your shampoo contains DHT blockers too, you don't want to use any DHT blockers on your beard!

Hey guys,Hey dude and welcome!
Just started the journey myself. On week 2 using a brand called “Foligan” at 5%. Already experiencing the dry, flakey skin. My question is as follows.
Within about 30 minutes of application and by the time I get to work my face goes completely dry and flakey. Does this mean that my skin has fully absorbed the minoxidil and that I can rinse and apply moisturizer? I know it’s a long shot but it’s very uncomfortable and embarrassing.
Congrats to all the new beard owners and thanks for the support! Cheers!
I don't know the answer to your question, but I can recommend using the foam instead of the minoxidil. It's a bit more expensive, but you're only doing minoxidil for 1-2 years in total anyways, so it's a cheap price to pay for a life-time of beard. :) For me, the foam burns a bit right when I'm applying it but goes away in like a minute. No dry flakey skin either.
If you need to moisturize, I would compromise and put some on after the minox has dried; but without rinsing the minox off beforehand. Still not optimal, but better than skipping the application altogether.
I see that it comes in two variants, normal and a low-alcohol formula. It's to my understanding that the alcohol is to help with absorption on the thick scalp, but in the case for us who applies it on our face, maybe the low-alcohol type would be preferable to avoid both skin irritation and systemic absorption?
I do also have access to the more expensive Kirkland, but I believe it doesn't matter which brand you use.
My second question is about how much to use.
I have a beard and I dont feel like shaving or cutting it very short. The length is about 3cm, and while not very thick I do get some liquid stuck in it. Should I stick to the 1ml twice a day, or should I consider increasing the amount slightly to compensate? I feel like I would want to apply a bit more, but I'm also afraid of the side effects.
Today I will probably apply it an hour before going to bed and I'm only using it once per day at 1 ml. I will keep you guys updated and just so you know, I'm 30 years and have never had sideburns.
I have been using minoxidil 5% (kirkland liquid) for last 5 months and I 'm very slow gainer. First 2 to 3 months I used to dermaroll once in a week but stopped that for last 2 months as I got few acne on my face. Currently applying minoxidil once 1 ml. I'm 35 yrs old and my testosterone level is little low. I guess low T level causing me low beard gain. I work out 4 to 5 days a week and also eat clean.
I did some research on natural test booster supplement and thought of giving a try to Prime Male natural test booster, hope test booster and minoxidil will give me some positive result in next 3 months. Please let me know what you guys think.
Being an office guy, I don't have the time to wait 4 hours to rinse and apply moisturizer. What I do is to apply minox first, dry it out for at least 10 minutes, then apply moisturizer on top of it.
Is it okay to do it that way? Or should I just not put moisturizer over the area with minox if I couldn't rinse it off first? Thanks!
Hi everyone, I have a few questions.
I recently started using Minoxidil, some unknown Indian brand at 3 % strength that I was given. I intend to switch to 5 % when it runs out. I looked around online and found this cheap brand called Qgain which I haven't heard much about.I see that it comes in two variants, normal and a low-alcohol formula. It's to my understanding that the alcohol is to help with absorption on the thick scalp, but in the case for us who applies it on our face, maybe the low-alcohol type would be preferable to avoid both skin irritation and systemic absorption?

Hi! I have just started my minox journey a week ago.

Hi Cemmos. How many ml of minoxidil do I put both in my scalp for the hair to grow and in my face for the beard to grow. Is it possible to put 1 ml in the scalp and 1 ml in the face? So all in all 2 ml in the morning and 2 ml in the night. Is it possible or should I stick to 1 ml both parts of scalp and face. Thank you. I hope you answer my question.
Hi, I've just started using minoxidil a couple of days ago and have this one question-
After applying minoxidil how long should I not touch my face? Because it's really frustrating to not be able to touch my face for 4 hours!!(as you've said it takes 4 hours to dry completely) If I apply it in the morning before work it is almost impossible to not touch my face! Hope you can help
Thanks
RickM I would avoid touching my face as much as I can, but if you do touch your face accidentally it shouldn't be a huge issue. The foam dries much much quicker than the liquid, like within 10 minutes, maybe even quicker.
hello, so im im going to start my minoxidil journey but before i start i have a couple of questions .
1.before i apply minoxidil, i know i should wash my face but should i let my face dry first or make my face dry with towel before i apply minoxidil or can i put it on wet face (i know this is silly question but i won to be sure before starting)
2.should i use ph balanced cleanser to wash my face? i know i should use moisturizer.
3.what you think about derma roller? is that going to increase results dramatically ?
4 .i was planning to buy this product, what do you, think?

Does anyone know if 0.5ML of 10% Minoxidil can be applied to beard and then0.5ML of 5% Minoxidil can be applied to scalp in 1 session ? Without having big negative side affects.I started alternating both.So far i only had side affects once when I first applied 10%.After that I have had no issues realky with it.But I dont wanna skip my scalp applications on the days I mix in the 10% on my beard.I only use 10% sometimes at this point..I mostly use 5% on beard if not using 10%.. Just started the 10%..I just posted something on my experience so far with adding it sometimes to my usual Minoxidil routine.
